Level 2 Award for Working as a Security Officer within the Private Security Industry (QCF)
This regulated qualification is ideal for anyone wishing to work as a security officer. It is based on relevant SIA specifications for learning and qualifications, and therefore provides the necessary skills and knowledge for learners to apply for an SIA licence in this field. Subjects covered include the roles and responsibilities of security officers, patrolling, security systems, communication, reporting and record-keeping, avoiding conflict and reducing personal risk, defusing conflict, and resolving and learning from conflict.
How long will it take me to achieve this qualification?
This qualification is usually achieved by taking a 3-day course.
How is the qualification assessed?
It is divided into 3 units and is assessed through 3 multiple-choice examinations. These units are as follows:
Unit 1: Working within the Private Security Industry
Assessed by a multiple-choice examination of 1 hour containing 40 questions. Learners must achieve a score of at least 28 out of 40 to pass this unit.
Unit 2: Working as a Security Officer within the Private Security Industry
Assessed by a multiple-choice examination of 1 hour consisting of 40 questions. Learners must achieve a score of at least 28 out of 40 to pass this unit.
Unit 3: Conflict Management within the Private Security Industry
Assessed by a multiple-choice examination of 30 minutes consisting of 20 questions. Learners must achieve a score of at least 14 out of 20 to pass this unit.
